Our story
Finance, explained simply.
We believe that understanding money should not require a finance degree. It should not be gatekept behind jargon, complexity, or a Bloomberg terminal. It should be available to everyone — clearly, honestly, and in plain English.
It started with a LinkedIn post
A few years ago, Aleksandr Paini noticed something frustrating: whenever a big economic event happened — a rate hike, a market crash, an inflation spike — the coverage was either written for professionals who already knew everything, or dumbed down to the point of being useless. There was almost nothing in between.
So he started writing. Short, clear LinkedIn posts explaining what was happening in markets and why it mattered to ordinary people. No jargon. No padding. Just the what, the why, and what it meant for you.
The response was immediate. People who had never thought of themselves as financially literate started sharing the posts, commenting that they finally understood things they had been nodding along to for years. The message was clear: there was a real appetite for finance, explained simply.
Then came the book
As the audience grew, so did the depth of the content. What started as bite-sized posts evolved into something more ambitious: a comprehensive guide to personal finance and economics, written for the person who wants to genuinely understand — not just skim headlines.
Finance Explained Simply covers everything from how interest rates actually work, to what inflation really is, to how to read a balance sheet without an accounting qualification. It is structured around a simple principle: assume the reader is intelligent, but assume they have never been taught any of this. Because most people have not.
Writing it made one thing obvious. Finance literacy is not a niche interest — it is something everyone needs, and almost no one is taught.
Now, a platform
Finance Explained Simply is now a full platform — a place to both learn the fundamentals and stay on top of what is happening right now. Every day, the biggest financial stories are covered not as raw news, but as explainers: what happened, why it matters, and what it means for you personally.
The Knowledge Base brings together 300+ articles covering the concepts you need to make sense of the world — from compound interest to central banks, from GDP to diversification. Each article follows the same philosophy that started everything: clear, direct, no jargon.
And the newsletter — The Brief and The Deep Dive — delivers it all straight to your inbox, in whatever format suits your schedule.
